PLC is an industrial computer that monitors inputs and outputs to make decisions based on based on the program stored to the PLC’s memory. The use of PLC’s help to reduce human decision-making efforts to gain higher efficiency. PLCs incorporate internal relays that can function as a physical relay would, and eliminate the relay footprint driving costs down.
Automation is the use of electronics and computer-controlled devices to assume control of processes. The aim of automation is to boost efficiency and reliability.
A Human-Machine Interface (HMI) is a user interface or dashboard that communicate with Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs)
A programmable logic controller (PLC) is an electronic device used in many industries to monitor and control construction systems and production.
1. PLC work only in auto mode (Since program is predefined). If there is error during the operation, we cannot proceed till it rectifies or corrected.
2. The set point cannot be altered in PLC. (If needs to be altered then the licensed program has to be downloaded)
3. There is no display unit in PLC.
4. In PLC we cannot monitor what is happening during the execution.
